100 Rep Shoulder SuperSet

Attach up a band and alternate sides while you hit 25 Reps per set of all 4 of these bentover shoulder press variations.

Great way to finish off a upper body day with a little shoulder emphasis.

Active Aging Speed Workout

Today’s Band Gym Throwback Thursday workout is a speed workout I do twice a month to maintain good balance, reaction time and age related quickness/agility.

No one says you have to work at my speed.

Go faster or slower.

It’s based on your tolerance, not mine or anyone else’s.

I firmly believe if you don’t work on staying quicker and athletic, you will lose that ability faster  as you age.

I have a lot of things …  Like Golf, Hiking, Running and hopefully future Grandchildren, I need to stay athletic for.

Start slow and give these 3 exercises a try.

All Time Ab Training

Few Facts about the role of your Abs 
1 - The Abs are the primary connection between lower and upper body
2 - The Abs control momentum created by arms and legs 
3 - Abs are involved in almost every movement we perform
4 - Abs are primarily a stabilizer and decelerator (versus an accelerator) of movement 
5 - Abs align in all 3 planes of motion

Knowing these facts, it’s important to realize the Abs are involved in almost every strength movement we perform in standing, kneeling, 4 point, 3 point or 1 point bases of support.

So as long as your hands or feet are in contact with the ground you are training your Abs.

The RBT 28 Day Ab Challenge that starts TOMORROW will be teaching and training participants all month using these facts as our guideline.

DB-Band Leg Work

Using a single DB (#25 lb used in video) and a single attached band, cycle through these
5 exercises doing 45-seconds on / 15-seconds rest.  That is 1 cycle. 

Drop Step Lunge R - L
DB Swings
Reverse Lunge - Low Reach R - L

Complete 4 cycles for a 20-Minute Leg and Hip workout.  Build hip strength, stabilization and mobility in one workout

The band will make sure you hinge well at your hips so all you do is focus on keeping your Lunge and Swing Quality good.

Posture is the body’s blueprint when it comes to aligning all our joints to perform as a total integrated functional unit. 

The closer we are to maintaining that blueprint, the more efficient we move.

As a result, posture needs to be something we are aware of during out exercise program and are actively working on 

When most people think of posture they think more about the upper body and how our shoulders align relative to our pelvis and head.

Y’s-T’s and W’s are movements you can use to make sure you have both the passive flexibility and dynamic mobility in your shoulders and mid spine.

I will use this sequence of Assisted Y’s-T’s and W’s at least 2 times per week to stretch and mobilize my upper body to build and maintain postural strength 

Fortunately the horizontal band resistance activates my ab’s which helps keep the low back from arching and compensating for shoulder tightness.

 ➡️ We will use this setup a lot in the upcoming Ab Challenge ⬅️

Take your time with this but I think you will see what I mean when you try this.  Make sure you keep band tension low at first.
